Stuart Allen (b. 1970, Wichita, KS) works in a range of media, from photography to large-scale steel sculpture. At the center of his practice are questions about light, time, and human perception. His work has been included in more than 150 exhibitions across the United States, Canada, Italy, Greece, France, and Australia. His photographs and photo-derived works have appeared in major surveys such as The Altered Landscape at the Nevada Museum of Art, Thinking Photography at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and the 2025 Venice Biennale Architettura.

Allen's work is held in dozens of prominent collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art; the Nevada Museum of Art; the Crocker Art Museum; the San Antonio Museum of Art; the Harry Ransom Center; the Cleveland Museum of Art; the Tokyo Kite Museum; UNESCO Headquarters, Paris; and U.S. Embassies in Ottawa, Canada; Astana, Kazakhstan; Sofia, Bulgaria; and Tbilisi, Georgia.

Allen has completed more than 25 permanent public art projects in California, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Florida, and Ontario, Canada. His work has been covered by the New York Times, Boston Globe, Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, Forbes, Glasstire, and many other publications. He has received a Whiting Memorial Award from the International Society of Philosophical Inquiry, a Peter S. Reed Foundation artist grant, a Texas Society of Architects Artisan Award, and travel grants to take part in kite festivals in Japan, Guatemala, and Italy.

Allen maintains studios in San Antonio, Texas, and Corrales, New Mexico. He is currently represented by Haw Contemporary (Kansas City, MO) and PDNB Gallery (Dallas, TX). He graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1993.
